# Installing problem

 * I hit install and am taken to a ‘blank’ dashboard page. The new theme is not 
   added to my available themes. Doesn’t seem like the install is going through…
   why could that be?

 * Typically, a blank screen during/after installation means you didn’t get a complete
   and intact set of WordPress files uploaded to your host. I’d consider downloading
   a fresh copy of WordPress from the Download tab at the top of this page, then
   use something like [7-Zip](http://7zip.org) to extract the files. Then reupload
   the files to your host. Review [Uploading WordPress to a remote host](http://codex.wordpress.org/Uploading_WordPress_to_a_remote_host)
   and make sure you are using ASCII transfer mode in your FTP client.
 * If you have an `.htaccess file,` that too could be causing the problem–rename
   that if necessary.

 * Thanks for the reply. When I was uploading to my FTP, I did get a message that
   not all the files were transferred (connection was sketchy at times during the
   upload). Do you think there is a specific file(s) missing that could cause this
   problem? Then maybe I could find them in my local folder and upload them seperatly?
 * About the .htaccess file, what would I need to rename that?

 * You could upload the files separately but there could be more than one.
 * If you do have an .htaccess rename it to htaccess.hold or delete it.
