 * Hi, can anyone tell me which details wordpress is referring to when it asks for
   hostname, username and password when automatically installing plugins, or when
   trying to do the one step wordpress upgrade?

 * that is what is required, however
    check with host to see if they allow this
   also on some hosts you have to add port number
 * example.com:21

 * okay sorry its working now. But can I ask something else: when i try to do things
   like add pictures to blog posts, it says the parent permissions are not configured
   correctlt, but i am unsure what folder or files to change the permissions on,
   and what to change them to…

 * You need to assign 755 permission to the /wp-content/upload folder. You can check
   further permissions here:

 * on some hosts, the 1st time you do this /wp-content must be chmod 777
    after
   that should work at 755

 * so for 755, what does each of the three (user, group and other) get?
