• Hello,
I currently have a primary domain using wordpress theme.

I have added a few new domains to the same hosting package I have as add-on domains.

Can you please give me steps of how to install different wordpress themes to my add-on domains? My current primary domain is running perfectly.

I tried downloading a new wordpress theme to my new add-on domain. However, I can’t seem to find the wp-admin, wp-contents, wp-includes files for this new theme for my add-on domain. In addition, there is no install.php for this new them in my add-on domain.

    Please advise.

    Thanks
    Laura

  • Your main domain is located in your i.e. www/ a/k/a site root and any add-on domains would be in www/example.com. If you’re using FTP simply login and look for this in your server side.

There’s no special instructions for WordPress installation on add-ons, because they’re treated the same way as your primary domain. You can have separate installation for add-ons as well.

    Hi Emil,
I downloaded the graphene theme to the add-on domain on my server side. However, I can’t seem to find the wp-admin, wp-contents and wp-includes like I did for theme that I first set up in my main domain.

I did found wp-config-sample.php and updated the details as instructed on the site. But I can’t find wp-admin/install.php.

Did I do something wrong? Will there be a new wp-admin, wp-contents and wp-includes files for the new theme that I want to use for the add-on domain?

    Thanks
    Laura

Where did you find wp-config-sample.php? what folder www/ or www/addondomain.com?

    wp-config-sample.php was in www/

I edited the file to reflect the details of the add-on domain. Then I renamed the file to “wp-config.php” and moved the file to www/addondomain.com.

I completed step 4 of the installation instruction. Then I proceeded to step #5 (run the install script). I used the browser and entered
http://example.com/wp-admin/install.php but got an error message:

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    I went into the folder www/addondomain.com, I don’t see a wp-admin, wp-contents, wp-includes and in the folder that I placed the wp-config file, I only saw the uninstall.php and I don’t see “install.php”.

    Thanks
    Laura

To install WordPress on add-on download the copy of WP directly to www/example.com folder instead and run from there. This is if you want to have separate installs.

I did download WP (Graphene theme) directly to my add-on domain (www/example.com). However, I don’t see wp-admin, wp-content, wp-includes files under the add-on domain (www/example.com).

The ones that appeared in www/ and public_html folders are for my original theme on the first site.

What should I do? Is there something wrong with Graphene theme that there is no wp-admin, wp-content, wp-includes files?

    Thanks
    Laura
