Installing causes critical error due to memory

    I’ve tested this plugin locally and on my staging site and it works great.

    But when I try to install on my production site I get a critical error that brings down the whole admin section.

    The only way I can get the site back up is by manually deleting the plugin directory via shell access.

    Error message from logs:
    FastCGI sent in stderr: “PHP message: PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 20480 bytes) in /public/wp-includes/meta.php on line 1078PHP message: PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 20480 bytes)

    Does anyone know how to rectify so I can get the plugin installed?

    I eventually resolved this issue. I believe the first time I tried to activate it something went wrong, and the only way I could delete it was manually on the server.

    I finally tried re-installing the plugin and then, before activating, I deleted it via the admin plugins interface, which must have run some cleanup code.

    After that, I was able to install fresh and activate it without issue.
