# installing – blank page

 * I can’t seem to get past a blank page after installing. I’ve set up the MySQL
   databse via cpanel, posted the unzipped wordpress files, and edited & posted
   the wp-config.php file. However, all I see is a blank page. Here is where my
   site should be:
 * [http://www.catherinegeorge.com/elektra](http://www.catherinegeorge.com/elektra)
 * Thanks,
    Catherine

 * – Is this the guide you followed: [https://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress](https://codex.wordpress.org/Installing_WordPress)
   –
   Have you discussed this issue with your hosting provider?
 * – Check Min. System Requirements
 * PHP version 5.2.4 or higher.
    MySQL version 5.0 or higher.

 * Hi Tara,
 * Yes, that is the guide I followed.
 * No, I have not yet discussed with my host but I will, thanks.
 * In the MySQL area of my cpanel, I see a message that says:
    “This server is running
   an unsupported MySQL version (5.1). Ask your system administrator to upgrade
   MySQL to improve security and features.”
 * So, I’m assuming that MySQL 5.1 is ok since you say it needs to be 5.0 or higher,
   despite the error message I’m seeing.
 * In the PHP area it has different versions that can be selected. Currently “native
   5.4” is selected. So I’m assuming this is ok too since you say it needs to be
   5.2.4 or higher.
 * I’m really stumped. I’ve tried posting the edited “wp-config.php” file, the unedited“
   wp-config-sample.php” file. I’ve tried different URLs such as catherinegeorge.
   com/elektra, catherinegeorge.com/elektra/wp-admin, catherinegeorge/elektra/wp-
   admin/install.php, and so on – for each, I just see a blank page.
 * Anything else I can try?
 * Thanks,
    Catherine

 * I agree that contacting your host would be a good idea, but I would also suggest
   that you try deleting (via FTP) the wp-config.php file that you edited and uploaded,
   and re-upload the original wp-config-sample.php file that your WordPress installation
   came with. I have run into this issue once or twice when installing and I seem
   to recall that was how I fixed it. If you do this, WordPress will ask you to
   enter your database name, password, and hostname, and then install should run
   normally.

 * Ok, thanks.
 * Yes – I tried that too – just having the “wp-config-sample.php” file there, and
   then using the URLs to try to access the site. Didn’t work. The only page that
   comes up is the “read me”:
 * [http://www.catherinegeorge.com/elektra/readme.html](http://www.catherinegeorge.com/elektra/readme.html)
 * I will try again though, and will contact the host as well.
    Any other things
   to try – please let me know.
 * Thanks,
    Catherine

 * Ok, I tried again – deleted the wp-config.php file and reposted the wp-config-
   sample.php file.
 * I tried this URL:
    [http://www.catherinegeorge.com/elektra/](http://www.catherinegeorge.com/elektra/)
 * And it redirected to this:
    [http://www.catherinegeorge.com/elektra/wp-admin/setup-config.php](http://www.catherinegeorge.com/elektra/wp-admin/setup-config.php)
 * But the page is blank.

 * I’ve had a couple of blank pages after install problems and the problem was in
   PHP mode.
 * Check you cpanel (if you have it).

 * Yes, thank you – I got in touch with my host company’s support and they fixed
   it. All set now.
 * Thank you!
