Support » Fixing WordPress » Installing any new Theme breaks the themes manager page

  • Resolved Abdezan

Hello I just downloaded and installed WordPress (v2.2) for my first time. It works great, but I downloaded a number of different themes, unzipped them and uploaded them to the wp-content\themes folder as instructed, and it returns a php error and won’t open the manager page unless I remove all of the new theme folders.

Any clue what may cause this, and what I can do to fix this? Right now this install is on my personal server at home just to check it out before I upload to my live site. I am running with PHP 5 and MySQL 5.0 so I doubt that is the problem.

Thank you in advance for your feedback!

  • Can you tell us what error you;’re getting? Without knowing, all we can do is make guesses.

Thanks DrMike for your response. A strange thing; the themes now work, although I’ve not done anything. They were returning an error but now after about an hour, I’ve come back and refreshed and they are all showing up.

Sorry if this has wasted your time. Please do feel free to delete this post. I’ve no idea why it didn’t work, then did work, with no changes by me at all other than allowing some time to pass by. Strange indeed!
