Installing all in one SEO Pack

  • I feel way out of my league here. I am a beginner. All the symbols, extensions, code, and whatever else is a new language to me so please try to bare with me.

I installed wordpress on my site. I created a file folder named “blog” that contains all the word press files. I’m trying to install the all in one SEO pack. I downloaded the zip file from the site and it saved to my hard drive. I used my ftp client to move the SEO zip file from my hard drive to the plug ins folder. I open the file from the plugins folder and its contents open in Windows Explorer.

Next, I try to open the top file (the powerpoint document and I get the message “all_in_one_pack is not a valid archive”.

What did I miss? Please help.

I used my ftp client to move the SEO zip file from my hard drive to the plug ins folder.

Did you unzip the file in the plug ins folder?

I open the file from the plugins folder and its contents open in Windows Explorer.

Next, I try to open the top file (the powerpoint document and I get the message “all_in_one_pack is not a valid archive”.

I thought these steps were unzipping the folder. There isn’t any option to “unzip folder”. Help?

Yes always unzip the file locally before you FPT the resulting file folder or php file, depending on the instructions for the specific plugin. In windows explorer to unzip you can either right click the file or if you use firefox, opening a zip file right from the download manager should unzip it.

The author of the AIOSEO plugin is one of the nicest and most helpful of people you will find in the plugin world. You can always ask for help there and get it right away. He also must have the record for the most frequently improved and updated plugin!
