• Hi All,

I hope someone would be able to help me with this problem. I have installed WordPress 4.2.2 a few days ago. Everything is running smooth. Just one issue. How to install a new theme on Localhost. I downloaded a new theme for my portfolio, extracted all its contents in the wp-content-themes folder, but I CANNOT change the theme. Could anyone help me?

  • Here’s what I did:

From your WordPress dashboard of your website on your local host
Go to Appearance > Add New Themes
    Click > Upload
Click > browse, find the zip file of your theme on your computer
    Click > Install Now
After you’ve installed the theme, hover over the image of the theme and click > Activate

Are you on your WordPress dashboard? Do you see this? To the right of “Themes 2” is “Add New” in blue.

A better alternative is for you to send a link where you’ve uploaded the image to a image hosting service, like imgur.com. Then others can see and help or benefit too!

Just to make sure we’re on the same page, make sure you have followed these steps:
    – download the theme to your computer
    – From your WordPress dashboard of your website on your local host
Go to Appearance > Add New Themes
    Click > Upload
Click > browse, find the zip file of your theme on your computer
    Click > Install Now
After you’ve installed the theme, hover over the image of the theme and click > Activate

The really important step is you’ll *have* to hover over the image of your WordPress theme before you’ll be able to see the Activate button (that’s why you don’t see the activate button on my image – linked to above – either.)
