Maybe I misunderstood you, but from what you are saying, it sounds like you did not install WordPress on Lithium’s hosting account. Lithium should have provided you with instructions on how to get files transferred to their web hosting account, and how to define a database there.
In any case, Lithium will be better able to help you than anyone here, as things differ from one web host to the next.
I keep getting this message even after making sure that the password and username etc. matches.
Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.
Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?
