[resolved] Installer General Warning - wp-config.php: validate values (7 posts)

I get a general warning at the end of the install.

WP-CONFIG WARNING: The wp-config.php has one or more of these values "WP_CONTENT_DIR, WP_CONTENT_URL, WPCACHEHOME, COOKIE_DOMAIN, WP_SITEURL, WP_HOME, WP_TEMP_DIR" which may cause issues please validate these values by opening the file.

I recognise reference to wpcache plugin.

But what should these values be, how do I validate them?

    Thanks Colink

    Hey Ckxion,

This article on the codex is a good starting point. You don't have validate them all just the ones that are in your wp-config file...

    Cheers~

    Hi

Thanks for the quick reply, unfortunately I am no wiser.

What am I validating against? What data in the config file should I be looking at? What confirms if the data I should be looking at is valid or invalid?

The doc you links to makes no mention of validation.

Does the warning imply that some error has been found or is is just telling me there is the potential to be a problem and I need to manually check (what) that (whatever ) is valid.

Sorry to seem so vague but the warning gives no clue and the document covers a multitude of things most of which, I assume, are not relevant to the issue.

    Thanks Colink

    Hey Ckxion,

The warning just implies that the values should be checked if you experience any issues. Its really just a warning at this point in the plugins development to help give clues should any issues arise.

Right now some of those particular directives have caused issues on some system. If your not experiencing any issues then just ignore the warning. If you have one of those directives set and your having issues post the one that is unclear and I'll see if I can help shed some light...

After the plugin moves out of beta I hope to have better validation to catch issues with those particular variables...

I know its a bit confusing... Try coding this stuff ;)

    Thanks

No, I will not try coding it, but thanks for the offer :-)

Good to know support is available and quick.

An different question if you do not mind.

    Resave Permalinks
This will update url rewrite items like the .htaccess file (requires login)

When I go to permalinks the setting is the same as original. Is logging in and saving actually doing anything or is it unnecessary once I know that master file is working OK?

    Thanks ColinK

When you resave permalinks the WP logic will rewrite to the .htaccess to whatever values you choose. In some cases it will update the file in other instances it won't. It all depends on how/where and what was changed. Its a bit like the Warnings. It applies to some setups while others it will just rewrites the same settings...

After the installer is done your .htaccess is completely reset (your original .htaccess was copied to htaccess.orig) because trying to rewrite it with new paths and settings it not really possible because there are two many variables to consider. So to validate your permalinks are working as intended the setup asks you to re-save them.
