Support » Installing WordPress » installer fails

  • I’m trying to install WordPress on my machine for evaluation. After adding
    $configFile = file(“../wp-config-sample.php”);
    $handle = fopen(“../wp-config.php”, “w”);
    to install-config.php before line 121, as suggested by the last post, wp-admin/install.php fails with the error “It doesn’t look like you’ve installed WP yet. Try running install.php.” The hyperlink goes to wp-admin/wp-admin/install.php. I’ve looked through the code a bit; I haven’t found the script that generates this message.
    There’s no SQL dump included in the download; it would be a nice addition to the next release.
    Any suggestions for getting this running without the install script?

    Hey … 5 mintues later … I found the SQL dump that someone left on the board. It sort of runs now. Unfortuneately, loging onto the admin interface redirects to a machine in .nu (not sure what country that is). I edited my database, restarted and its seems to be going now.
    It would be helpful to put some advice to users of Win XP / IIS in the next version of the readme.

    actually the guy who made the sql has his site on nu domain.
    and he mentioned somewhere to fix that. 🙂
