Installed WP on an existing website but can't see it

  • Somebody else did a website for my friend and I am trying to change it. It is on hostgator,I installed WordPress on it, uploaded a theme and published it. But all I see is a previous version. How do I delete it and get my WP running? please use simple language as I am not very tech savvy 🙂

  • If your friend is paying for the hosting, you can always ask the hosting company why the WordPress installation isn’t showing up. Another thing to look at is that the server may be configured to first serve up “index.html” as the default home page – meaning the old site (assuming it’s a static html site) might be first in line to display. You can use the server’s control panel to change this and slect WordPress’s “index.php” to be the default home page.

    Thank you!
