Installed MAMP on iMac running OSX Lion: working.
Installed wp.org to run on MAMP.
Install was succesful as I got the wordpress intro screen.
Named my site and logged in to dashboard.
Had a poke around and then up in the Admin bar, I clicked on the link that is my site name to "view" my site.
All I got was a page saying "Your Website. Its a snap to create and publish your own website from your Mac . . ."
I must have done something wrong or not done enough right?

Any pointers would be greatfully received by a complete newbie.

  2. You probably have some webserver on your mac already. Web sharing or iWeb or some crazy Apple thing like that. Find it, turn it off, restart MAMP.

Thanks for the tip. I checked in System Preferences and Web Sharing is turned off so that hasn't resolved the issue.

    The fix

Apple left a little html file in my Sites folder advertising the fact that OSX Lion has an inbuilt Appache server.

I deleted the file, rebooted my Mac and problem solved.
