I made changes to my existing WP theme in MS Expression Web, saved everything then uploaded the revised theme back to my server. The revised theme is not showing in my list of available themes in my WP Dashboard Appearance options. As far as I can tell, all the required files are there and they all show as having been revised today.

    You edited… no wait… you updated… nope that’s code…. I got it.

    You pushed the wrong button.

I don’t know anything about MS Expression Web but to modify a WordPress theme you need to either edit the PHP code, the CSS style sheet or both with a plain vanilla text editor (think Notepad).

If you want, see this link for a more technical explanation.

I did change the style sheet and the PHP files. That can be done in Expression Web (it’s a web site creation software – effectively like Dreamweaver or the old FrontPage). Expression Web allows non-programmers like me to do it via a graphic interface rather than having to type code. Changes are made via the GUI and the code is updated automatically.
