This app installed itself after installing another plugin. Will report them.

    Hi @luclatulippe 👋

Thanks for reaching out and sharing your experience. I’m really sorry to hear about the frustration of finding our plugin installed when you weren’t expecting it. That’s definitely not the experience we want for anyone, and I can completely understand why that would be alarming.

Just to shed some light on how this can happen, some themes or other plugins will recommend or bundle companion plugins as part of their own installation process. It’s possible that permission to add OptinMonster was granted during one of those setup wizards—we know how easy it is to click through those steps when you’re trying to get a new tool up and running!

Plugins in WordPress don’t have the ability to install themselves, so it would have been triggered by that other installation. In any case, we sincerely apologize for the surprise and any confusion it caused.

If you don’t plan on using OptinMonster, you can absolutely remove it by going to the ‘Plugins’ screen in your WordPress admin dashboard to deactivate and uninstall it.

We hope this helps clear things up, and we wish you all the best with your website.
