installed in wrong location/tried to more location and messed it up, how do i fi

  • Hi, when i manually installed wordpress i installed it to lcbargains.biz/wordpress ! and later realised that it should have only been at lcbargains.biz ! so i copied everything to the correct location and deleted the /wordpress folder and it didnt work. – so i deleted everything and redid install from scratch in correct location and it tells me it cant select the database!

can anyone help guide me here

  • That’s because your database is not empty. You could create a new database or if you know how, drop the tables in the current database (assuming you have no important data in there!) and try again.

    Hope that helps 🙂

i dont have anything there as far as i know, only a new wordpress install that failed. if where it asks for a table prefix i change it on setup config, would that be what you are suggesting about dropping tables, and what should i change it to? thanks

You could do that. It would result in a few extra unused tables in your WordPress database but that should be OK.

Also, it is always a good idea to change the WordPress database table prefix to something other than the default for security reasons 🙂

thank you keith, i will give that a try 🙂
