Hello. I have installed the plug in onto my WordPress site, Hickory theme, bought in Dec 2013, and it is not showing. I can see it in the list of plug ins – I have the option to deactive it or edit it. It’s not showing on my site though (mydomesticworld.com). When I downloaded the plug-in, I wasn’t asked at any stage about my Twitter handle. Have I missed something? Thank you in advance.

    Hi Karola,
go to the Appearance->Widgets section, then drag the “Really Simple Twitter” box inside one sidebar on the right. This way the widget settings form will show: fill it with authentication data, customize it as you like and save. Cheers!

Thank you so much and sorry for being so basic. I’ve done what you said but it still isn’t showing. I’ve moved to another computer to reload the page there but it isn’t showing on that either (mydomesticworld.com).

Could it be because I have nothing under Twitter Authentication – i.e. nothing under Consumer/Access? I am not a developer so have nothing to put in (I don’t think).

The widget is definitely dragged into the sidebar on the right and I have added my Twitter Handle @mydomesticworld and chosen 5 Tweets showing.

    Hi Karola,
unfortunately the 4 Twitter Authentication fields are mandatory.

To obtain them (as stated in the plugin description) you have to create a personal Twitter Application on the dev.twitter.com website. Within your Application, Twitter provides two strings: the Consumer Key and the Consumer Secret. You also need two other strings, the Access Token and the Access Token Secret, that you can get following this guide. Finally, enter all the Authorization string in the widget options box, along with your favorite display settings: your Twitter Widget is now ready and active!

Hello. I have done it! The authentication bit was a little daunting, but I got there.

    Thank you.

My final q is – is there a delay on live Tweets? My latest has not appeared after ten minutes or so and I have refreshed quite a few times.

    Hi Karola, very good!
Yes there’s a delay (an internal cache), because the Twitter service has a strict rate limit; try again in an hour. Cheers!

Thanks. Yes the Tweet came through – it is good to know why there is a Twitter-related delay. Cheers!
