Have you checked your wp_users table?

the bad news is there is no table showing up. the wp_user table only show the list of id, and user_login, user_pass. when i try to browse user_login, mysql returned an empty result

the wp_user table only show the list of id, and user_login, user_pass

That’s not right. It should show the username, display name, user_url etc.

yes. it showed the list with id, and user_login, user_pass username, display name, user_url. but no data inside

if I try to browse user_pass, it returns the result:

MySQL returned an empty result set (i.e. zero rows). ( Query took 0.0004 sec )
    SELECT user_login
    FROM Globalholdings.wp_users

do is suppose put the password manually? how do i set the admin username and password?

Since this is a new install, I would strongly recommend that you empty the database completely and run wp-admin/install.php again. If one table is so completely borked, it’s likely that others are damaged too. 🙁

our domain name is registered in another account. the website is hosted by our own VDS. the WP files is uploaded to the sub-folder /blog. the database is built in the VDS. In this case, I should set it to localhost or something else?

If the database server is in the same VPS, yes, MySQL database host should be localhost.

I’d actually check with the server’s admin about this. Different server configs may affect exactly what hostname you can use,

thank you esmi. but can you explain a little bit more about the “Different server configs may affect exactly what hostname you can use, “

    how can i fix it?

we rent the VDS from Godaddy.com.
