Support » Installing WordPress » Installed 3.5 to my website, but I can't create admin user

  • Resolved PenRei

I got my domain name from Go Daddy and I’m using Dreamhost for webhosting.

I managed to install the WordPress web software to my dreamhost and got an email with a link to create my admin user. However, when I click on the link, I get an error 404 that says I’ve either “entered an incorrect URL into my browser’s address bar” or that I “haven’t uploaded content”. I don’t have any content yet because I just created everything.

How do I get past this error message to create my admin user account and get started on my website?

  • Hi PenRei, Did you change the DNS nameservers on GoDaddy to point the domain name to Dreamhost?

No I haven’t. As you can tell, I’m very new at this.
I think I managed to find the information for my DNS nameservers. Thanks! Hopefully this will solve my problem.

Hopefully that helps. Also, once the nameservers are updated, it’ll take a few hours the new info to diseminate to all the DNS lookup servers. Bottomline: the link might not work right away.

PenRei – If you’re still having DNS woes, please let me know and I’ll see if I can help 🙂

It worked out in the end. It took a few tries, but all is well. Thank you Kevin and Mika E.
