• Hello

I received the following warning on installation:

Warning: mkdir(E:\sites\vhosts\ilanamercer.com\subdomains\blog\httpdocs/wp-content/themes/barely-a-blog): Permission denied in E:\sites\vhosts\ilanamercer.com\subdomains\blog\httpdocs\wp-admin\upgrade-functions.php on line 683
    Finished!

I am able to log in to WordPress with the admin password and see the ‘Hello World’ post. I can create and save a post, but I cannot view the index.php file at
http://blog.ilanamercer.com/ (the index file exists – I can see it via ftp)
The following additional errors are generated if you try to view the blog

Warning: main(./wp-blog-header.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in E:\sites\vhosts\ilanamercer.com\subdomains\blog\httpdocs\Index.php on line 4

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required ‘./wp-blog-header.php’ (include_path=’.;./includes;./pear’) in E:\sites\vhosts\ilanamercer.com\subdomains\blog\httpdocs\Index.php on line 4

My hosting service uses Plesk. I seem to have correctly created a database. The blog is on a subdomain with path E:\sites\vhosts\ilanamercer.com\subdomains\blog\httpdocs.
All the WordPress files and subdirectories were loaded to the ‘httpdocs’ directory via ftp. I was unable to create subdirectories via ftp in the ‘blog’ directory. I suspect this may be part of the issue but need advice on how to proceed.

    Sincerely

    Sean

The file path on the server is

Try the install again, but follow these instructions: http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/plesk/

Hello and thanks for the Plesk link.
I still have the same problem having followed all the database instructions for Plesk (at said link). I deleted the old database and put in a new one, deleted all WordPress files from the subdomain and reinstalled.

I get exactly the same errors listed in my original message.

My hosting serivce only seems to let me have the database in the root domain and WordPress is installed in a subdirectory as shown in my original message.
The database name in the root is ‘ilana_blog2’ and this is exactly what I entered in the wp-config file.

Do I have a hosting issue or?

    Help most welcome.
    Thanks
    Sean

    Ignore the warning.

The error is about a command ‘mkdir’.
As part of the install, WP creates a new theme directory and it is this that is failing. Your blog should work.

    Hi
You are correct in that the blog does seem to work – I can log in and make posts but when you try to view the site itoffers up the additional error messages cited in my first post.
Any suggestions on how to resolve the ‘mkdir’ error?

The subdomain name is ‘blog’. I am unable to create subdirectories in this location.
My hosting service set up a subdirectory called ‘httpdocs’. I can create subdirectories in this location. The WordPress install is in this directory for this reason.
Is it possible that WordPress nees to create a directory in the ‘blog’ directory? This would likely fail as I can’t do this myself via ftp.
    Sincerely

    Sean

I put the WordPress files and subdirectories in the I was able to put the WordPress root locaiton files there.
