    I’m duplicating mttanzania.com over at multiani.com/mta. I created the package and downloaded it and the installation file. Uploaded to the /mta directory and ran the installer. Confirmed the SQL settings, which Duplicator verified and green-lighted. Seemed to run fine, and I got confirmation that the install was successful except for the creation of a new admin for the new site. So I clicked to save permalinks and got a 404 page. So I tried going to multiani.com/mta/wp-login.php and got a 404. Then I just navigated to multiani.com/mta to see what was there, and I got a listing of files, including the installer-log.txt, the wp-snapshots folder, and the extracted archive file all in a folder. No WordPress install at all.

    I’m now in my FTP program deleting the extracted archive file and everything else except the installer.php and the original zip file so I can try this again. But it took over two hours to run the installation due to the sheer number of files in this build. I’m hesitant to run it again when the end result might be the same.

    Anything I’ve missed or am doing wrong? Would greatly appreciate some direction. This seems like a fabulous tool for replicating a site, and I sure need it if I’m going to do the sister site for the original one I built, as the export/import tool doesn’t retrieve all files and attachments correctly.

    Thanks,
    JC

  • Hey @sensibilitypatterns,

    Checkout this section on the FAQs I believe it may help with this issue:
    -> Browse to: http://lifeinthegrid.com/duplicator-faq
    -> Find section: “2. Installer=> Post-Install”

    Also you may have to use filters if your working with a large package…

    Hope that helps!

    Hmmm… I think the issue may be with Safari. When I downloaded the package, it unzipped instead of downloading a zip file, so I compressed it. I’m going to try redownloading now that I’ve fixed preferences so the file won’t automatically unzip.

    What “filters” are you referring to? I can’t filter out anything on the site, as I need everything. There are over 250 media files (but they aren’t huge). It could just be that I have a really slow connection here….

    Thanks,
    Jennie

    There is a section on the FAQ for safari and MAC issues that might be related to this issue. Re-guarding filters you can filter out large files and then manually move them to the new location if you need to get your package size smaller this is also explained on the FAQ…

    Cheers~

    Thanks. I don’t think the package is too large. It doesn’t take very long to download–just a while to upload via FTP on my slow (African) connection. I’m going to give this another shot once I get the archive uploaded. Do I need to erase and rebuild the SQL database to be safe?

    IT WORKED! I am seriously happy! Saved me so much time. Where can I donate to you?

    Cheers,
    Jennie

    Awesome! Don’t worry about a donation, just tell all your raving fans about it 😉

    Thanks again! I will certainly use this tool again. It’s the best way to move a WP site without losing anything. Nothing else comes remotely close. And FAST support. Fabulous!

    Thanks for the kind words!

    Cheers~
