  • well, when I open install.php, this is the message that pops up:
Error establishing a database connection! This probably means that the connection information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect. Double check it and try again.
Are you sure you have the correct user/password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?
I double, triple, and quadruple checked everything in wp-config.php and made sure it was all correct. I made sure that the database actually exsisted. I just don’t get what keeps giving me this error..The same thing happened when I tried installing b2 (before I found out about wordpress). Anyone?

That error message means that it is failing on one of these 3:
    – username is wrong
    – password is wrong
    – ‘localhost’ is wrong
Have you done every step here ?
Is there a space in any of the above ? There should not be.

both the username & password, as well as the database. It might be the localhost? How would I check that?

(if things done in CPanel) is the user ADDED to the database?
    usually is not 🙂

yes, the user has been added. =\

I am having the exact same trouble!
I have created the database, added the user and edited the config file. My system adds the username to the front plus an underscore, but I fixed that as well.
I have no idea why there is a problem….
