lbout, the problem might be directory level.
Try to point to the dirctory.
Lets say, your domain is abc.com and you installed it in a folder called /blog
you need to access it through abc.com/blog.
Let me know if this isn’t it.
Regards
What’s the domain name? Where did you install WordPress? (i.e. is it in a sub-directory)?

Firstly thank you so much for replies!
Do you mean if when I installed wordpress did I fill in details in the / box?? Is that a sub directory? Cos I didn’t. Just the dot com website address. I’m sorry if I sound thick. This is a challenge for me as I couldn’t even email a year ago!
If it helps, I have followed every step in the tyler moore video ‘how to make a wordpress website – AMAZING’ published 3rd may 2012 on youtube up until 13.35 min. He comes back at this point after waiting several hours, clicks on the link and it works for him but not for me!
Please let me know if I can give you any more details and I do apologise for my amateur level of competence!
What’s the site URL? Where is it hosted?

Its http://www.favourfriend.com and hosted at hostgator. I did have to wait 22 hours for my account to get up and running with them as they encountered an error. Could that have anything to do with it maybe?
Did you register the domain name with them? Because it does not look like the NameServers for your domain name are set to HostGator – see:

Yes I did! What does that mean please? I don’t fully understand? That a different hosting company has my domain (how is that possible?) or hostgator have not set it up properly?
Thank you again for taking the time out to help me
Yes, I really don’t know why the NameServers are set that way – it MIGHT be how HostGator registers new domain names and it’s just taking a long time – but it really should not be taking this long. And those are not the valid HostGator NameServer settings…so something does not seem right. I’d really suggest you go back to HostGator and show them the link to that domain name — see what they say.

That’s great – thank you so much for your help. At least I have an idea of what is wrong and who to turn to. I have also learned something new and know that the whois is another way to check on things! I will get on to hostgator asap. This will be my fourth time of contacting them as like I said it took 22 hours for my account to be set up in the first place! I just want to get on with it! I’m paying for a service that I can’t use!
Thanks again and have a good eve or day – wherever you are 🙂
LOL – you’re welcome – I’m sorry I could not help more and that you’ve had such a messy time getting started. Hopefully, once you get it going, you’ll be off and running with the fun part :). (Afternoon – in California near Lake Tahoe at the moment!) Same to you.

Just an update. I got this sorted. Eventually. I will still have to wait 24-48 hour’s for the changes to take place but at least it’s being done. Thank you for all help offered and in particular to WPyogi.
