• Hello,

I had to temporarily inactivate the W3TC plugin as it was destroying the appearance of my site in the following ways:

    1) the front page of the site makes use of an image slider. The description overlays were all jumbled into one instance instead of appearing on their respective slides – it’s a total disaster appearance wise

    2) all of the typography was changed and theme’s typography was ignored

I would really appreciate some help with this.

I tried every combination of selecting and unselecting the minify options and the results only varied from same to worse.

I am using the Method theme by mysitemyway.

    Thanks

  • Try just deactivating the “minify” option all together and just use the caching options. I had to do that on a few of my websites.

Thanks, bstr. We actually tried that but to no avail. It turns out that the culprit wasn’t W3TC at all. It was CloudFlare. W3TC includes options for it in it’s bundled options but I think that’s a terrible mistake. If you don’t know what you’re doing with that piece it can cause so much mayhem on your site that no amount of boost in performance is worth it. Once I deactivated CF, everything went back to normal. In total, CF caused roughly a dozen different pieces of my site to break. It was awful. We ended up getting a rapid response from W3TC when we sent a distress signal but you must understand that this brings you into the realm of paid support. It’s not that expensive a few hundred bucks but I can’t help but think that they should charge for the plug in instead of making it “free”. Economies of scale would all them to charge a decent rate and users who get stuck wouldn’t have to fork up hundreds of dollars to get assistance for what’s out of their realm of understanding.
