 * Does anyone know of clearly-written, step-by-step (and I really mean that) instructions
   for installing WordPress (the kind that goes with my own chosen server)?
    Yes,
   I hang my head in shame for not being able to follow the installation instructions
   on WordPress.org. But I can’t. Any links, advice, etc. would be accepted with
   deep appreciation.

 * Did you have a chance to take a look at the online manual, the [Codex](http://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page)?
   
   Right at the beginning there a lot of good tutorials for installing.
