I’m trying to set up two separate websites. I bought the hosting and domains from GoDaddy. I was able to set up one site (keriinchina.com) and am able to login to WordPress to manage this site. The other site (keriinreallife.com) is hosted, but I’m unable to login to WordPress. I haven’t set up login information (username or password) with this site, but when I try to it says I already have. (Clarification: On GoDaddy when I try to install WordPress for keriinreallife.com, it says the domain is already in use.) When I go to keriinreallife.com/wp-admin/ it redirects me to keriinchina.com/wp-admin. Help?

  • I see WP sites at both of those domains – try here:

Thanks for your speedy reply. When I visit the link you provided it would allow me to type in my username and password for keriinreallife.com, but the problem is I don’t have a WP username and password for that site. How do I get one?

How did you install these ? Are they separate installs of WP?

I went to WordPress.org and clicked “download WordPress.” It appeared on my desktop and I did nothing. Then I went to GoDaddy.com and choose the “deluxe hosting” and bought it and two domain names. Once it was finished, in GoDaddy I went to “hosting details,” choose “applications” and created WordPress login information for keriinchina.com. It was easy, went smoothly and works fine. When I went back to repeat the process for keriinreallife.com, it says the domain is already in use and wouldn’t allow me to create a WP username and password. (I realize this isn’t a GoDady help forum, but I figured this information would bring context to my situation.)

I don’t think they are separate installs of WP, but I don’t know. I didn’t download WP twice.

I’ve scoured codex.wordpress.org for help, but many of the instructions are over my head..

Yeah, I think you need to ask GoDaddy about how that’s set up – it looks like there is a redirect from the second site to the first, so maybe those aren’t two sites at all.

I agree, and I will do that. Thank you for your help.

Sounds as if you have to domains that point to the same host/webserver, so only one install… Do you need to different installs, or are you going for one website but multiple domains?

When you installed the second site using the Go Daddy WP installer, you have to specify a sub folder location on your hosting account where the second site will be installed. By default, the WP installer uses the root location of your hosting account. You also have to use the Domain Management area of your hosting control panel to point the second URL to this folder on your hosting account. GD has ample tutorials on how to do this 🙂

@dejliglama — you were correct; my domain were pointing to the same host with only one install. I needed two different installs because I’ll have two separate sites.

@2ninerniner2Member — your comment was so helpful! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. All I needed to do was create/specify a sub folder for my second site. A GD tutorial helped do this. Thank you!
