Support » Installing WordPress » Installation Error

  • I had installed wordpress wen iinitially started designing. Then i had to delete that and install a new 1. After i deleted it and again tried to reinstall the following error came :

    Install WordPress (2/3)

The installation can not be completed:

    – You chose to install in the main directory of the domain, but there are conflicting filenames, therefore we can not proceed. Following filenames already exist in the main directory of the domain (path=”/home/indianhi/public_html/”).You must manually remove these files before proceeding with auto-installation:

Click on the browser’s Back button to fix reported errors.

Please help me in this as soon as possible.

  • You will need to either connect to your web hosting account through FTP or log in through your hosting provider’s control panel if they provide one. Then navigate your way through the directories to where you installed the first WP installation. Then delete the wp-admin, wp-content and wp-includes folders and perform the reinstall.

You can also install WordPress in another directory (i.e. if you have installed WordPress in root directory then now install your WordPress in root/<Directory_Name>).
