Please try to install the plugin manually by download the latest zip file here: https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/backwpup.3.6.8.zip
Then in your Dashboard -> Plugins -> Add new -> upload the downloaded zip
Remember to uninstall the plugin first 🙂
