Installation conflicts with current Web.config file

  • Hello,

I tried installing WordPress onto my Windows host but received installation errors. After research and talking to my hosting provider I removed my current Web.config file. The installation worked and I could access all WordPress functions.

However, when I added the Web.config file back to the root directory I could not log in to the Admin page and the URL returned a “This web page has a redirect loop” error.

I require the current Web.config as it contains information relating to canonization, 301 redirects, caching settings and various mime configurations that are relevant to what I am doing. So I basically can’t do without it.

I have considered turning off inheritance with <location path=”.” inheritInChildApplications=”false”>, however I have other applications where I need inheritance to occur.

Before I go around breaking everything to find an answer I was wondering if some has the same issue and an answer (simple or complex) regarding this issue.

    Thanks
