• I would to install wordpress as a local intranet. I have found this great piece of software called https://serverpress.com/get-desktopserver/ which basically lets you setup wordpress as a local dev centre. However I would like to setup a local intranet of wordpress using amp. I have a problem when I access the site from another pc on the network, it displays the wordpress text, but is like missing the theme. What would I be doing wrong?

At the moment the only way I can do it is to Remote control by vnc to the dekstop dev centre but I would like another developer to see and access the site too from another pc.

The problem is the URL’s that it was installed to. I’m guessing that you’re set it up as http://loclahost or something similar? The problem with that is that every resource (CSS files, JS file,s images, etc) also loads from http://localhost, and when a user is accessing the site from another computer, the localhost URL will point to their PC and not the PC that the site is hosted on.

To get around that the site should have either an internal domain name (I’ve seem places use something like resources.internal) but this requires the ability to set DNS for the entire office at a central point. The other way that is easier is to use the IP address of the PC that it’s running on and everything will load from the correct IP address. You jsut need to be sure that the IP address of that PC is locked so it doesn’t change.

to make the change you can use a search-and-replace plugin or this tool.
