As stated on the requirements page, WordPress requires and uses MySQL (and MySQL-derivatives like MariaDB, PercornaDB, etc).
There may be 3rd-party hacks and plugins to use PostgreSQL or other databbases, but that’s outside the official requirements… so you’re on your own if you encounter any issues.
Good luck!
It can be done, but there may be issues, and it seems like a lot of work… https://duckduckgo.com/?q=use+postgres+wordpress&ia=web
There’s a very old WP database drop-in that attempted to convert MySQL queries to PgSQL:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/postgresql-for-wordpress/
It was incompatible with a large number of plugins/themes, which I’m sure is why it was never updated. So I guess you have three choices:
1) Install MySQL
2) Attempt to fix the above plugin so it works for your specific needs
3) Find a different application that supports PgSQL
Ig #4 would be a suggestion so that WordPress also adds support for PostgreSQL?
Since lots of people use that too
Not gonna happen, @arshiaaghaei
Alright ty for the replies
