Hi, new to wordpress and learning my way around with both it and this forum.

I want to update content on my homepage, but would like all the wordpress files neatly together in its own folder. Per directions, this sounds like a no-no, files need to be installed directly into the root directory. This seems like it would get rather confusing as there are a lot of files.

Wondering if it is okay if I install WP into its own directory and link the homepage into it, or if I should go ahead install into root directory and hope I don’t get overly confused with all the files there?
