 * I’m having trouble getting the install script to run in my browser. I get a “
   page not found” error message.
 * Rereading the documentation I noticed the recommendation to rename the wp file
directory on the hard drive to your desired name that will be placed on the server.
I didn’t do this. Instead I uploaded all of the files residing in my computer’s
wp directory to my site’s “blog” direcory. Did I do this correctly or do I need
to upload the “blog” directory? And, is the blog directory where these files
go? Could this be my problem?
 * Also, the install script that goes in the browser has a period after the php
in the documentation but Ã? don’t believe it belongs in my address bar in my
   browser, correct?
 * If there any any other suggestions as to why this script doesn’t start I’d really
welcome your hellp. Thanks in advance.

 * Can you make sure that you uploaded the files, and not the entire “wordpress”
folder to the blog directory that you mention?
 * I suspect you might have uploaded the entire wordpress directory, including the
directory to the blog folder on your server. If this is the case, upload all
the files inside the wordpress directory, after you have unzipped the downloaded
zip file, to the “blog” directory on your server.
 * If it fails, since this is a new install, there is no harm in deleting the blog
directory, renaming the directory “wordpress” to “blog” _before_ uploading and
then uploading it to the root(public_html or similar) of your website.
 * There is no period after install.php – you are correct about that.

 * Thanks for your reply. Yes I’m sure I didn’t upload the folder, I only uploaded
the files. I see 26 of them (if my memory is correct) in the server’s file manager
under the blog directory. They were unzipped and the wp-configur.php file was
created before uploading them. Are you suggesting that there might be a greater
likelyhood that if I changed the wp directory to blog and uploaded to the root
that the install script would work?

 * No, if the files are in the blog directory as you say, everything should be okay
   with the upload.
 * Does you host provide a database, and have you created a wp-config.php file?
 * If your domain is example.com, then your install script will be at [http://example.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php](http://example.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php)
 * Can you provide us with a link to the problem site?

 * I created the database and the wp-config.php file. The link to the site is [http://www.scoremoreclients.com](http://www.scoremoreclients.com).
To attempt to install the script I put this [http://scoremoreclients.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php](http://scoremoreclients.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php)
into my browser and Go. It brings back the page not found message. Any other
info I can provide you? Thanks.

 * How did you get the files from your computer to the site ?
    I cannot find any
css files, the license.txt or readme.html which leads me to suspect that nothing
has correctly uploaded – hence the issues.

 * I ftp’d it. I checked the site’s file manager & I see both the license & readme
files under the blog directory. I don’t know what the css files look like so
I can’t comment on that. If you check your wp directory on your drive do you
have 4 folders and 22 files? That’s what I have on my C drive and server. It
looks to me like everything is there. What next?
