# Install previous WordPress folder into WAMP

 * Hi there,
 * I needed to reinstall WAMP the other day, and I only had a copy of the old WordPress
   folder that was originally installed into the www directory of the previous version
   of WAMP I had. I know I probably should have made a backup of the original WordPress
   installation/files, but I totally forgot, and just made a copy of the WordPress
   folder and put it on my desktop. How can I go about importing the stuff from 
   that folder into my new version of WAMP. I know this is probably going to be 
   tricky. I already put it into the new www directory in my fresh install of WAMP,
   and when I go to my WordPress dashboard, I can see that at least all of the plugins
   that I had are there, just not the content. Please tell my I can recover this
   stuff! Thanks.

 * If you have copy of the wordpress folder from www directory and the database 
   sql file. Then you only need to place the wordpress folder on new installtion
   www folder,
    create the database with same name as previous and import to sql
   file through phpmyadmin. If all the settings are as in previous installation.
   You are on the go with you wordpress working.

 * It would be even easier to replace the mysql/data directory in the new WAMP installation
   with the one from the old installation. That simple change will restore MySQL.
   However, please be aware that **_everything_** is restored, including all users
   and passwords, so you’ll need to remember the old credentials.

 * I have another thread just started where I’m trying to install a new WAMP, but
   use the data and WordPress files from the previous installation which I uninstalled
   but it left the www and bin folders.
 * I’m wondering if I can just drop the data folder from the old 5.6.12 setup into
   the 5.6.17 setup? I did some of that but it didn’t re-connect to the database.
