 * I had a blog on a host that recently expired. Before it did so, I used Dreamweaver
to download all my blog files. Now I’m trying to install them on a new host,
but I now see that this isn’t the best way to do this and will have to change
the database info on my old files. Does anyone have a straight-shot instructional
   on this?
 * Thanks…

 * The file wp-config.php at the top level contains the link information to the
   database.
 * I would suggest editing the contents to match you new database connections and
   uploading it.

 * Is it that simple. I found this also:

 * Something that’s not connecting in my mind about it is that even if I change
that file and upload the files, isn’t there supposed to be information installed
into the database to make the blog work? Is that what the wp-config.php file
   will do?

 * Did you also export the database from the old host before you closed the account?
All your post and page content is in the database, not in WordPress or theme
static files. If you didn’t export the database and reimport it at the new host,
the content is gone. See [http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress#Moving_WordPress_to_a_New_Server](http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress#Moving_WordPress_to_a_New_Server)

 * Good point, I take it when you said you downloaded your files you also backed
up the database. If you uploaded your database over the top of your new installation
database your new installation will be pointing to your old site from the settings
   within the restored database.
 * This article has some more information [http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress](http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress)
you can change your URLs but do remember step 10 and update your permalink settings.
