  • A couple of things;

    I tried changing the database info in the wp-config-sample.php file manually and uploading it again,

    Did you remember to rename it to wp-config.php?

    The only other thing I can add is that the page
    http://www.pangeamusic.biz/pangealibrary/readme.html does exist and opens,

    What relevance is that to your wordpress installation? Where in relationship to that page, did you install wordpress?

    [edit] never mind my second question. I understand.

    [re-edit] also, this could be important – what version of php are you using?

    Hi,
    I did change the file to wp-config.php. Its still in the ‘wordpress’ folder it was originally in as a sample. I actually changed the page info above to the sitename/wordpress structure I was explaining to make sense of it. Well caught…

    So, basically, where I am at, is:

    • knowing the ‘wordpress’ folder opens and can be accessed from a browser
    • knowing the permissions of the folder (755(rwxr-xr-x))
    • manually updated the wp-config-sample.php file as someone suggested and renamed it wp-config.php to no avail.

    I think it might be possible you may not be using a version of PHP that supports the current version of WordPress. Should be easy to rule that out first, before you pull too many hairs out troubleshooting. What version(s) does your host offer, and if more than one, can you be sure of what version you are currently using?

    Would you believe it, I came to the same conclusion as you and was installing an earlier archived version of WordPress as your email came in?

    So, for everyone’s benefit…..

    My issue was an earlier version of PHP than version 3.4.1 of wordpress required.

    Thanks for the support Clayton!

    You’re welcome!
