[Resolved] "Install Message" out of nowhere on running WP blog

  • On one of the sites that I run, I am getting the “Install Message” when I try to login to the website via Admin section or when I visit the website’s homepage.

This is a blog that has been running for years and now all of a sudden this just popped up. This is crazy!

Can anyone point me in a direction of how to fix this?

  • Ensure that database settings in wp-config.php are correct and that that database indeed has all WP tables that are filled with content that should be there.

FTP client or cPanel file manager and phpMyAdmin can be used to check these.

You must quickly check your website for malware or hacking on an online tool sucuri
If your site has been hacked, the notify the hosting company about it.

Thanks for offering the suggestions. Oddly enough after about 30 minutes the blog just reverted back to normal.

I know all the settings in the config file were set ok to my DB. But, that does make me wonder if my web host was having issues with their DB server and because of that it showed me that install page? Very odd.

I did check the site using sucuri and it came up clean.

Thanks again for responding to my post!
