I am having issues installing optipng, pngout, and gifsicle. I get this error enable write permission on the /hermes/bosnaweb01a/b2371/ipg.tonynyamuphotography/wp-content/ewww/ after investigating I contacted my hosting company ipage to they set permissions to 755. But I am still getting the same error Pngout was not installed: . Make sure this folder is writable: /hermes/bosnaweb01a/b2371/ipg.tonynyamuphotography/wp-content/ewww/
can you please help. Below is the message I received from ipage support.

On our platform, folder permissions are set to 755 and file permissions are set to 644. I could see that some files inside the wp-content folder had improper permissions. I have corrected it. I could also see that there is no index.html or index.php file in this folder. So the file is showing Forbidden error. Once you add an index file, you should be able to access the URL http://www.photography-tn.com/wp-content/ewww/ and install the plugin.

not quite sure which index file they are referencing to, can you please help?

iPage does not allow the bundled optimizers to run on their servers, they have jpegtran pre-installed, so that is why it is the only one that works. If you only use JPGs, that would not be a problem, you can simply disable the other tools. Otherwise, you can use the cloud API to optimize your images on iPage: https://ewww.io/plans/
