Instagram photos don’t seem to render when I try to embed them. All I get is the URL displayed on the page. An example link that I’m using: http://instagram.com/p/UqdRnyFdvH

    Have Instagram oEmbeds stopped working?

  • Can you show an example of where the html is appearing rather than the link?

Make sure that the URL is on its own line and not hyperlinked (clickable when viewing the post).

Also, you can optionally wrap the URL in the [embed] shortcode. It will accomplish the same effect, but does not require the URL to be on its own line. It also allows you to set a maximum (but not fixed) width and height, like so: [embed width="123" height="456"]…[/embed]

    Hi janet4now

    Thanks for your reply.

Can you show an example of where the html is appearing rather than the link?

I’m not sure what you mean?

I’ve made sure the URL is on it’s own line. And just to note, everything else is working: flickr, imgur, youtube, blip.tv, twitter etc.

The only one that isn’t working is Instagram. Is it working for you? Perhaps you could try with my example link? http://instagram.com/p/UqdRnyFdvH (or, of course, feel free to use your own)

A link to your site on the page where you’re trying to embed the instagram.

and did you try using the shortcode?

Ah! sorry for being dim 🙂

I’m working on localhost so you won’t be able to see an example page.

My users won’t really know how to use the shortcode. They’ll just be pasting in the URLs – so that’s what I need to check is working

Try disabling all your plugins and see if it works.

    there could be a conflict.

Also, you didn’t mention what theme you are using, but try disabling that as well and using a 2014, 2013 something like that for testing purposes.

I seem to be getting the same result after disabling all plugins. The theme I’m using to test is Twenty Fourteen.

I really don’t think Instagram URLs are working. Would it be cheeky of me to ask if you could test it on your installation?

I tried on one of my client’s development sites and it did not work there either.

I did see others with the same problem, so use the plugin I linked to.

woops… I did it again and it does work. I used the text rather than the visual editor and it loads just fine.

When using the visual editor it adds a span class rather than embedding.

Looks like it could be happening due to the visual editor.

Thanks for your help with this janet4now, much appreciated!
