 * the size of the picture shown in the lightbox is 100×100 pixels – settings are
   600×400 pixels. i’m using just the instagram checkbox

 * If you are using the latest stable version of the plugin, there is a bug for 
   just images from instagram and that is what you experience. This bug is fixed
   in the upcoming 4.0 version that atm is available as beta.
