Hi,
Just to clarify, so on android phones you’re unable to scroll the site, while on ios phones you can? Have you tried going to the site on an android phone without doing through instagram first? Does that give the same issue?
Hi Dave thanks for yr reply. Yes the site works fine using my android phone not going through instagram. Also I’ve tested the site using an iPhone through instagram and it worked OK. All testing was done using android mobile while setting website up. Definitely seems to inly happen when it’s opened using the link in instagram. The browser seems to be integrated with instagram somehow as its def not chrome or Firefox. I have checked other Instagram users who share their websites in their bio and the ones I checked seem to scroll ok when I view them so I can only assume its something to so with my site.
Hey Cameron,
I think it has something to do with your mailchimp signup.
Browsing through your site on Firefox everything works fine for me. But when I open your site in Edge or Chrome (on desktop), I get the same problem as you describe in your question. So I cannot scroll down, but I can use the menu to navigate.
There seems to be nothing obvious that causes this, but when I then use developer tools (F12) in the browser and toggle device emulation to simulate a phone, a banner turns up at the top that reads:
Get tips on Being Your Best Advocate!
Next, when I click this away with the close button at the top right and reload the page, I can scroll as normal.
Firefox doesn’t have this issue, and I’m guessing Safari also doesn’t, so that’s why you’ve maybe not noticed it before.
Looking at your site’s source code this banner comes from mailchimp, so I’m guessing there’s some kind of conflict there.
To confirm, you could try removing this code – if you have it added through a plugin, just temporarily disable the plugin – and then see if the issue goes away. If it does, you know this caused it. Next you can continue troubleshooting by checking if your configuration is correct or contact mailchimp with the issue and see if they’re aware of it and can help.
I hope this points you in the right direction. Good luck!
Hi Dave,
thank you for the pointer. You were spot on. We deactivated the banner and it now works as expected.
We would like to leave you a review somewhere is possible, and if you have PayPal would like to send you a “tip” for your help. Saved me many more hours head scratching!!
Thanks again.
Hi Cameron,
Thank you for letting me know. I’m glad to read you got it figured out now 🙂
Over the years I’ve received much help through these and other forums myself, so I’m simply happy to be able to do something back. And maybe you’ll be able to pay it forward in some way again. That would be nice 🙂
Take care,
Dave
