# Insert/Edit link Not working

 * I am trying to add a text link while in Visual mode of the “portfolio” section
   on my theme. When I highlight the text, then hit the insert/edit button nothing
   happens. No popup window as before. This function did work at one time.
    I am
   using WP 3.5.2 I have disabled all plugins as suggested in another 100 posts 
   and still not working.
 * I am not a programmer and only know the basics to run my theme. Now I have troubles
   I am limited on knowledge.
    Please help….

 * Try deactivating ALL plugins in and switching to the default twentytwelve theme.

 * All plugins are disabled and has not fixed it.
    I switched to the default twenty
   twelve theme but it does not have the “portfolio” function that my theme has 
   in order to check to see if its working.

 * Your other thread said you were using a commercial theme – have you asked the
   developer about this? (We don’t support commercial themes here.)
 * Also be sure you’ve cleared any caches on your site/browser.

 * The Theme was working and I could use the insert link funtion until WP did an
   update. Then this function stopped working. Along with the ability to switch 
   between visual and text. The rest of my theme is working as advertised.
    The 
   developer says its a WP issue.

 * If I even knew what that was…. I will now be researching how to find my wp-config
   file and what to do when I find it….
    So much for WordPress Themes being user
   friendly. Yikes

 * Yeah, themes can be complicated – here’s the info on wp-config file:

 * You’ll need to use FTP to access the files on your server.
 * Also, always a good idea to make a full back-up of your site before doing things
   like this…
 * One other thing you could try first is resetting the plugins folder – by temporarily
   changing the name on the plugins folder temporarily to
 *     ```
       wp-content
           pluginsHOLD
       ```
   
 * That sometimes “fixes” weird plugin-related problems.

 * Ok I found the file and renamed the plugins folder….no change in my problem. 
   still unable to enter a link and also cant change from visual to text editor.
 * I also changed the wp-config.php file to read “true”vs false but not sure what
   I’m looking for once that is changed.

 * ok I have gone back to read “false”….in over my head on last change….
 * plugin folder still named pluginHOLD and it is not fixing my trouble.

 * Problem solved….
 * I installed the plugin… TinyMCE Advanced version 3.5.8. by Andrew Ozz. Once installed
   go to settings and check the “advanced link” box.
 * This didn’t solve the Visual/Text selection problem but that is another day.
   
   🙂 3.5 hours I’ll never get back…Thanks for your help.
