Is it possible to insert a tag into a page – I am using tags of places which I edit with more details etc and would like to insert the, into other pages.

You should be able to use the get_tags() template function and similar functions in your page templates to show the tags applied to that page. Then you can render any extra details with each tag (like a list of other posts also tagged).

You should be able to do that without needing Insert Pages.
