• Hi,

I’ve tried just about everything to add some simple HTML code to frontpage (content section, not sidebar), just above the latest posts. But no matter what I try, it just doesn’t show up.

    Help, please 🙂

    Hi @cooldarja51,

Can you please give us more details about how you’re trying to add the code to the page?

Are you using an auto-insert option or via shortcode?

If you’re using auto-insert it depends on how your frontpage is set up, if it’s a custom page template the auto-insert won’t work in most cases.

    Thanks,
    Mircea

aha, that has got to be the reason, I’m using auto insert option.
But since I’m a n00b in WP, how to add shortcode to frontpage without touching the php?
I also don’t want to create a static page for frontpage, if possible.

    Thanks!

    Hi @cooldarja51,

If the frontpage of the site displays the latest posts you should be able to use the auto-insert options for Categories, Archives, Tags & Taxonomies.

If the page is already custom-coded as a template that loads the posts using a custom query you won’t be able to use auto-insert on that page reliably. You can try the auto-insert option “Before post” under “Page, Post, Custom Post Type” if it’s a page but that might not work depending on your page setup.

Without knowing more details about your homepage structure it’s difficult to know which locations will work.

Can you please share the theme you are using? If it’s a free theme we can try replicating to provide more info.
