Support » Fixing WordPress » innacurate category count in sidebar

  • wordpress 2.04
    theme: orcadia

    sidebar code:
    <li id=”categories”>
    <h2><?php _e(‘post tags’); ?></h2>

      <?php wp_list_cats(‘optioncount=1, sort_column=name, use_desc_for_title=1’); ?>

    <?php wp_list_pages(‘title_li=<h2>’ . __(‘who is wendy?’) . ‘</h2>’ ); ?>

    Reproduction steps = reduce number of categories by merging them.

    1) set default category to ‘herstories’ (5 entries)
    2) delete category ‘po ate tree’ (about 5 entries)
    3) accepts warning that the posts will be shifted to the default category.

    view blog, herstories category is published as containing only 5 posts (panic!) navigate to category and find the extra ‘po ate tree’ posts are there, labelled as ‘herstories’, just not included in the count.

    This has happened for several of my categories as I attempted to reduce them. What should I do to make the sidebar post count accurate?
