Support » Fixing WordPress » Inline YouTube Video in Gutenberg

  • I am trying to add an inline or new line video within a list (Gutenberg). I can’t get it work. I can add it after the list but not between items of a list. I tried to do it in the code editing mode, which automatically “corrects” my change. I don’t think it is supposed to be like this or am I missing something?

Editor blocks can be infuriating when you want to do something out of the ordinary. You may need to build your list using the custom HTML block if you cannot get the list block to cooperate. Have you tried including the video link as part of a list item? I get that you want it between items, but it may appear OK as part of a list item. Or at least close enough that its appearance can be modified with CSS.

Yes, I actually tried to add the video separately (after the list as a block). Then in the code editor, I tried to cut+paste the YouTube video block into the list. However, code editor removed the YouTube block and overwritten my changes. It actively prevented me doing that.
