[Resolved] info on footnote

    Don’t know were the version can be located.

    The designer of the web page won’t return my calls. I spent about 1 hour with him and he showed me the basics and gave me a manual along with a CD. I have been able to add new pages and links.

    I am between beginner and advanced (I do not program) I am having difficulties locating where the information was placed in one of two footnotes. Our pastor will be leaving at year end and I do not know where this info comes from.

    Can someone please help me. I know were the”who we are” comes from but don’t know where it gets its color or spacing.

    site is http://www.staugnazarene.org

    You are an advanced user.

    The designer of the web page won’t return my calls. I spent about 1 hour with him and he showed me the basics and gave me a manual along with a CD. I have been able to add new pages and links.

    WordPress gives for free some extra for the users :

    We are also making a more nice one – http://make.wordpress.org/support/user-manual/

    WordPress has videos too : http://wordpress.tv/

    I am having difficulties locating where the information was placed in one of two footnotes. Our pastor will be leaving at year end and I do not know where this info comes from.

    Footer widget ? Please take a screen shot and upload it somewhere to make us understand the thing. “footnotes” is not standard wordpress terminology. Thats why I asked for the screen shot.

    The colour and spacing in your footer comes from your css file – the same place all styling comes from. style.css in the theme

    The styles for the footer are in the CSS file (style.css) — here:

    #footer #about {
        float: left;
        margin: 0;
        padding: 0 20px 20px 0;
        width: 500px;
    }

    and:

    #footer #contact {
        float: left;
        margin: 0;
        padding: 0 0 20px 20px;
        width: 230px;
    }

    The background and color is being set in the file wintertime.css:

    #footer {
        background: url("wintertime/footertopbg.jpg") repeat-x scroll left top #96B4C4;
        color: #FFFFFF;
    }

    regarding the “footnote” I can take the screen shot but don’t know how to show it to you. (attach)

    The bottom of the home page shows two sections – the left side is “Who we are” and the right side shows “contact us” It is this contact us portion that I need to update after Dec 31 Also, this is posted on every page – and how does it get there?

    It could be set up a variety of ways, we can’t know without actually seeing your theme.

    Since we can’t do that, we can try to guide you

    It could be hardcoded into your theme – check at appearance -> editor and look in the footer.php file

    It may also be a widget area, maybe a text widget at appearance -> widgets

    NewNaz2012

    @newnaz2012

    Okay I found the widget area – there are zero wigets listed

    I also found the appearance – editor and looked at the footer.php file. All these appear to be the formats but my home page info is not there (all I need to do is change the Pastors name)

    FYI I have learned via friend to do all my postings/editing via firefox (IE didn’t work for me to edit my page) and to do all my postings I use http://www.HTML.am since I don’t know the language. But it seems to work for me. This information is my last stumbling block.

    ps – on the Theme page – it shows current Theme Feature Pitch 1.3.0 and when I go there I have NO IDEA what it is 🙂

    I need to leave now for a few hours. I will be back on line either tomorrow afternoon or Monday. To all who have helped thank you and have a blessed day

    How do you update the ‘who we are’ info? I would assume the mechanism is similar

    We usually use widgets : Appearance > Widgets.

    But in your case, probably there is no widget, I can see :

    <div id="about">

    As Rev. Voodoo said :

    Its an ugly method to insert text in WordPress.

    Actually you can use Opera Browser, using Opera Dragonfly is very easy to identify divs and CSS.

    The other way to do it would be through a specific post/page, which is queried in the footer ….

    Yeah Rev. Voodoo, you are right. Its actually difficult to point OP in single shot.

    well on my dashboard – and list of pages I have a page dedicated to “Who We Are” and there is no indication of the information about the right side of the page – it is also a lighter color on the right side . I think I need to knock on the door of the designer,…..

    Could it be on the server where we have the program?

    I have been throug everthing I can possibly look at or think or whast you all have suggested. I appreciate your help

    NewNaz2012

    @newnaz2012

    Well, now I am stupid – I found it – as a page. Because it ws out of order I missed it – but I do thank you all for all the help and now I have places to look and study.

    One more question,. My version is 2.9.2 should I update> I ahve information given to me I can try to use to sign on to my ose at logixhosting.

    Yes, you absoltely need to upgrade! 2.9.2 is quite old, many features are missing – but more importantly, there have been many bug and security fixes since then!

    You should be able to upgrade WP through your dashboard, you shouldn’t even need to go to your server side unless something flakes out

    You may want to look into any plugins you are using as well – make sure they are still compatible with newer versions of WP. They should be if you are using them, if not, they may also be insecure.
