[Resolved] Inefficient CSS Selectors Issue

  • Hey Jeremy,

I love this theme! However, could you address these Inefficient CSS Selectors Issues that were found when I ran my website through GTMetrix.com

File: /wp-content/themes/techozoic-fluid/style.css has 14 very inefficient rules, 69 inefficient rules, and 34 potentially inefficient uses of :hover out of 280 total rules.

Very inefficient rules (good to fix on any page):

[Please do not post that much code or anything copied here – use a pastebin instead – http://pastebin.com/ ; or a link to the results page would suffice ]

Make sure the theme states it supports IE 8 and lower before picking on issues relating to those browsers.

Yes I try to maintain compatibility with ie where possible. I ran theme the the same tests and while there were a few overly precise CSS selectors that can be adjusted, most had to be that precise. Quite a few had to deal with the menus which require that many selectors to support the dropdown on more than one level.

You probably wouldn’t see any noticeable difference if these were fixed unless your doing a lot with JavaScript on the page. I’ll review and fix what I can, thanks for the report.

Thanks Jeremy for responding and looking into this. I’m new to WordPress, JavaScript and CSS so once GTMetrix told me of the errors I thought it would negatively impact my website and that’s why I contacted you. I understand what you say about the changes not making any noticeable difference so I’m no longer concerned, lol. I thank you trying to fix what you can and I look forward to any updates you make.
