Support » Fixing WordPress » index.php suddenly not loading

  • I didn’t mess with the code. I made a post this morning, as usual, and it posted just fine. And the blog loaded properly afterwards.

Then, suddenly, it won’t load… just endless waiting.

Customer support guy at hosting service: other .php pages on my site load just fine… it’s the index.php that’s not loading.

He suggested downloading that page and reuploading, and that didn’t work… any other suggestions?

  • Further note:

I just tried uploading the generic index.php that comes with the 1.2.2 installation, thinking that some bit of my customization had suddenly gone wrong.

Nope, generic index.php won’t load either.

    BTW, hosting company is

OK, nevermind. It just decided to load again. Must have been some sort of PHP hiccup on the server…

    Picking up this thread —

My index.php suddenly won’t come up. I tried overwriting it with the default index.php that came with my WP installation, and that restored the page for a while, but then it went down again. And now overwriting it with that original file won’t even bring it back. It’s just down — or rather, blank.

In the title of the window I get “” rather than the blog title. The window itself remains blank.

    Any suggestions, please?

Don’t overwrite the files. Delete, then upload. Overwriting files via FTP can lead to incomplete transfers.

    Got it. Thanks.
