Index.php style question (3 posts)

I want to be able to have a certain style for the posts inindex.php, but when I click on the initial post I want that post to have a different style. I am having trouble finding a way to do this because I do not know what functions control an individual post.

Example of what I am talking about is on mattbrett.com
If you look on his main page you will see a single post with a single style, now if you click on the post to read through its entirety it has a different style.

I am wondering if it is possible to modify the original wordpress index.php to act in a similar fashion, and if not how can I accomplish this??

Umm, I'm not quite sure what you're asking. Are you trying to change the style of the most recent post?

Are you trying to modify the "Single-Post-Page", which appears when you click on 'Read More'? If so, you'll need to modify single.php, not index.php.

    G'Luck. :D
